Rig Stability in Different Formations with Symmetrix / ODEX Casing Drilling Systems
Our water well drilling rig integrates the Symmetrix (concentric) or ODEX (eccentric) casing-while-drilling systems to ensure excellent rig stability across various ground conditions.
- In loose sand layers: The system prevents borehole collapse by advancing casing simultaneously with drilling. This eliminates the need for an open hole, maintains borehole integrity, and keeps the drill string centered — ensuring smooth rotation and reducing vibration or deviation.
- In cobbles, boulders, or fractured rock: The eccentric (ODEX) or concentric (Symmetrix) reaming action creates a stable annular space for the casing. The drill rig remains stable because the casing supports the borehole wall instantly, preventing sudden void collapse or bit sticking that could cause torque fluctuations.
- Overall stability benefits:
- No open-hole section — the casing always supports the formation.
- Reduced mechanical shock and vibration on the drill mast.
- Consistent torque and rotation, even in changing strata.
- Allows faster penetration while maintaining straight, stable boreholes.
By combining Sinovo series water well rig with Symmetrix or ODEX technology, you achieve maximum rig stability and collapse-free drilling in challenging sand layers and complex overburden formations.
